Lou Henry

Lou is a native of Pittsburgh, PA.  Following a stellar four year varsity starter prep career at perennial power Langley High, Lou led his Mustangs to four city titles and a berth in the PA. 3A State Championship game.  Lou was selected to the PA. all-state team in both his junior and senior years.  Lou was offered a scholarship to P.J.C where he batted third in the lineup that featured major league star Mark Whitten of Pensacola.  Lou was named All-Panhandle Conference shortstop his sophomore year.  He was selected to play in the Florida Junior College all-star game in Kissimmee, FL.  Lou continued his collegiate career at Troy State University, the defending national champs.  Lou helped anchor Troy to repeat as national champions the next season.  Batting leadoff and holding down the shortstop position, Lou was selected to the South Regional and World series teams.  Lou's senior year at Troy State, he finished with a team high (16) doubles and (30) stolen bases earning him second team All-Gulf South Conference.  Lou signed a free agent contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates and also served as an associate scout in the Milwaukee Brewers organization.

Lou's first coaching position was assistant coach at Union College, KY,  The Bulldogs captured their first district championship that season and placed second at the South Regional Tournament.  Martin Methodist college of Pulaski, TN. chose Lou as their skipper the next season.  Lou coached the Indians to the post season twice.  His 1996 team reached the Small College World Series Championship game in Tyler, TX.

Lou is currently in his third season as the Pensacola Pelicans Bench Coach, helping the Pels qualify for the playoffs each season.

 


Charity Butler

Charity Butler is instructing softball players at the Academy.  As a high school softball player, she was inducted into the Tate High School Hall of Fame in 2002.  She also recieved the High School Heisman award that year.  Charity went on to start four years at Southern Miss from 2003-2006 and collected many awards a USM during the four years she played.  Among these awards: ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American and the 2006 Southern Miss Female Athlete of  the Year Award.
Playing for the Michigan Ice Women's Professional Fastpitch team in 2006-2007, Charity led the team in batting average and in several other offensive categories.  Charity has recently returned from playing International Fastpitch for the Skovde Saints where she led the Saints to the SM-Guld (Swedish National Championship).  She led the league in total hits, total RBI's and total Home runs.  Charity also participated in the 2009 European Cup A Pool (the most elite softball tournament in Europe).  She finished with one of the top two Batting Averages in the tournament (.444), while also leading the tournament in triples.  Her Swedish season ended with Charity holding a .610 batting average and a slugging percentage of .987.
As an instructor, Charity has accumulated many hours of small group and team instruction.  Over the last five years, she has also directed the Anual Champ Camp Softball Clinic raising over $10k for local non-profit organizations. 
Her latest accomplishment is publishing a book with 6 DVD's which covers all phases of women's softball.
